GoMAP will have a booth at the finals of the 35th Manga Koshien (National High School Manga Championship), held at the Kochi City Culture Plaza Cul-Port on Saturday, August 1, and Sunday, August 2, 2026.
At the booth, we will introduce our work on a new distance-learning manga education program and run a short survey. We also have special activities lined up, including live drawing sessions and mini-lectures from our faculty.
Whether you are one of the competing students, a parent, or simply visiting on the day, please do stop by.

● Scheduled Programs
1. Digital live drawing by manga artist Mitsuru Sugaya
Manga artist Mitsuru Sugaya, a member of Kyoto Seika’s Manga Education Research Center, will be drawing live at the booth on a tablet and other digital tools. He is also scheduled to give a live drawing demonstration on the official stage from 12:05 to 12:40 p.m. on Day 1 (August 1). This is a rare opportunity to see professional technique and the digital drawing process up close.
2. Mini-lectures by Kyoto Seika faculty members
Mini-lectures will be given by project leader Kaori Mikawa (former manga editor; credits include Nodame Cantabile) and Kota Toda (part-time lecturer, Faculty of Media Creation; former curator, Kawasaki City Museum). They will explore what manga editors do, what goes on behind the scenes of a manga exhibition, and the range of professional careers that support manga culture beyond drawing itself, as well as where GoMAP is headed next.
*Please check at the booth for the detailed schedule.
3. Manga education survey
At our booth, we will introduce the project and run a survey to find out what you are looking for in manga education. Your input will feed directly into the curriculum we are building, so this is a real chance to shape the program. If you are at the venue, please stop by and fill it in.
